Emergency Volunteer Reserves.

Westchester County is looking for volunteers to join its new Emergency Volunteer Reserves.

Members would be called out to assist professional responders during a major disaster such as a devastating fire, hurricane, blizzard, or deliberate act of destruction.

No medical training is required, but members must be 18 or older and
complete 20 hours of free training in areas such as basic first aid, fire
suppression, search and rescue, decontamination methods, and disaster
psychology and preparedness.

The program is sponsored by Westchester County’s Department of Emergency Services and The Volunteer Center of United Way.
